Amec Foster Wheeler has received an engineering contract from Felguera IHI for the expansion of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal in Belgium. Zeebrugge LNG terminal is operated by Fluxys LNG, and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor is a joint venture comprising Duro Felguera Oil and Gas, Felguera IHI, and Balzola. The overall EPC expansion will consist of the construction and start-up of a boil-off gas (BOG) recovery system and fifth LNG storage tank of the plant, which will be one of the largest in the world with a capacity of 180 000 Nm3.

Amec Foster Wheeler will provide detailed engineering of the BOG recovery system and associated facilities as well as the interconnection with the new LNG storage tank and existing plant facilities.

“We are a leading engineering provider in Europe and look forward to applying our significant technical expertise on this strategically important project for Belgium,” said Amec Foster Wheeler’s Group President for Asia, Middle East, Africa & Southern Europe, Roberto Penno.

The value of the contract, which is to be delivered over the next 15 months, has not been announced.
