BAM Iconsa to design and build LNG jetty for Costa Norte LNG terminal

The terminal is the first LNG facility to be constructed in Panama, and is located near the Caribbean entrance of the Panama Canal, Colon, Panama. The import jetty will be capable of receiving LNG vessels ranging from 30 000 m³ to 180 000 m³.

The JV has already commenced design works, with work on site scheduled to commence in 1Q17. The project is expected to be completed in April 2018.

BAM Iconsa’s scope comprises the marine facilities, consisting of an LNG jetty with a 216 m long trestle, a 50 m x 35 m platform, four breasting dolphins, six mooring dolphins, as well as the intake and outfall structure. BAM Infraconsult/DMC, the sister company of the JV, is also involved in the new jetty’s design.

BAM International is the operating company of Royal BAM Group active outside of Europe, whilst Iconsa is a marine construction company active in Panama. South Korea’s POSCO E&C is the main contractor to deliver the terminal for AES Corp. from the US.
