Damen Shiprepair Brest completes LNG carrier maintenance

The works took place in the second half of May. They included a full in-water survey conducted by divers, changing of the mooring cables from wire to rope, and full class surveys executed on the mains boilers. A radar dome was also replaced.
Due to constraints imposed by working on an LNG carrier when gassed-up, an extensive preparation programme was necessary before maintenance could commence. This included obtaining the necessary permission from the port authority, and agreeing the scope of works with the client before the arrival. Good communication between all parties made sure that the yard was ready for the vessel, and the works were completed within the scheduled time.
The 290 m long, 101 000 GT LNG carrier was back at sea and fully operational as of June. DSBr claims that it was selected by operator MOL LNG Transport (Europe) Ltd and charterer Engie because of its ability to perform modification works on board LNG carriers when gassed-up.
