According to the statement, the NOI states that the agency will prepare a supplemental environmental impact statement (EIS) for the incremental 0.8 million tpy production capacity increase application for LNG Limited’s subsidiary, Magnolia LNG LLC.
The NOI only pertains to the capacity uplift for Magnolia from 8 million tpy to 8.8 million tpy, and does not affect Magnolia’s existing FERC order and notice to proceed (NTP) for its original 8 million tpy capacity.
LNG Limited Managing Director and CEO Greg Vesey said: “LNG Limited is committed to building the safest low-cost and most efficient LNG export facility on the US Gulf Coast. We thank FERC for their previous diligence on Magnolia and are ready for the continued engagement as the agency performs analysis on Magnolia’s capacity increase best answered through the preparation of a supplemental EIS.”
LNG Limited claims that it previously received notice from the Department of Energy (DOE) that the agency has granted authorisation for Magnolia to increase its export capacity to 8.8 million tpy of LNG to countries that have free trade agreements (FTAs) with the US.
