Throne speech: B.C. needs to seize LNG opportunity
In the throne speech delivered by British Columbia’s Lieutenant Governor, Judith Guichon, the focus was on the government’s agenda to create jobs and opportunity throughout the Province, growing the economy to fund public services.
The government will continue to build on its progress implementing the BC Jobs Plan, under which over 70 000 jobs have been created since 2011.
By focusing on key sectors of the economy and further growing British Columbia’s trading relationships in the Asia-Pacific region, the government will remain on course towards a strong economy.
LNG opportunity
Premier Christy Clark commented: “British Columbia is blessed with a strong, diverse economy, a balanced budget and public services that are the envy of the world. We will continue to focus on getting to ’yes’ on economic development, seizing B.C.’s LNG opportunity and protecting taxpayers by controlling spending.”
During the spring session, the government will also build on its success forging strong relationships with First Nations and communities throughout B.C., reducing unnecessary red tape, and investing in skills training.
