VIDEO: LNG Canada's community commitment
Through a series of meetings with the Kitimat community in April, June and September 2014, LNG Canada worked with residents and local stakeholders to develop a Community Commitment Document.
When asked about how the company can be a contributing member of the community, Mary-Ellen Proctor, LNG Canada’s Community Liaison Officer, explained: “We’re trying to build strong relationships with our community, and what better way to do that than to put down on paper, ‘we’re committed to the things that are important to you’?”

The focus groups LNG Canada held helped the company understand what is a top priority to the community. The final document is an agreement between residents of Kitimat and LNG Canada that lays out the commitments the company will make concerning how to operate and contribute to the local area to ensure LNG Canada is welcomed as a valued member of the community.
On Tuesday October 7, LNG Canada held a signing ceremony at its Community Information Centre where the final version was signed by employees of LNG Canada and the residents of the community that participated in its creation.
