LNG Industry,
Adriatic LNG has published on its website a tender for next winter’s peak shaving service, for the supply of one LNG cargo between a minimum 60 000 m3 and 70 000 m3 in volume.
The tender will close at 12.30 pm on 17 December, and the LNG will need to be unloaded at the terminal in one of the available unloading slots: 2 – 5 January, 14 – 17 January, 30 January – 2 February. Given the circumstances, the Ministry of Economic Development will only avail itself of the regasification terminal operated by Adriatic LNG for the 2019 – 2020 peak shaving service.
Peak shaving is part of Italy’s ‘emergency plan’, which is in place to deal possible emergencies that can occur during winter season, caused by a reduction or interruption of one or more supply sources or by an exceptional peak of gas demand. In case of need, the Adriatic LNG terminal will provide a contribution to the national gas system, guaranteeing the security of supplies.
Peak shaving will make stored gas, in the form of LNG, available to SNAM Rete Gas, in the first quarter of 2020, in order to meet possible peaks in demand during wintertime.
