Norsafe has announced it has secured its largest ever offshore contract to provide lifesaving appliances for ENI’s Coral South floating LNG (FLNG) unit.

Under the terms of the order, Norsafe will deliver eight freefall systems containing 5 x GES 50 MKIII with HD-50 davits and 3 x GES 45 with HD-45 davits to the FLNG unit. The davits will be delivered in November 2018, whilst the lifeboats will be delivered in February 2021.

The GES 50 MKIII freefall lifeboat will accommodate up to 70 people, and can be dropped from a height of 47 m. The GES 45, meanwhile, will carry up to 60 people, with a maximum drop height of 40 m.

The FLNG facility is currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries and will be located in Area 4, approximately 50 km off of the Mozambique coast.

The CEO of Norsafe, Dag Songedal, said: “I am delighted that Norsafe has secured such a prestigious contract to supply the first FLNG facility in Africa. It is testament to the dedication and hard work of our global teams that we have managed to secure so much business this year.

“We will continue to listen to our clients and develop products and services to meet their requirements in a cost-effective way.”
