Nakilat has released a statement claiming that it has assumed full ship management and operations of the Al Dafna Q-Max LNG carrier from Shell Trading and Shipping Co. Ltd (STASCo).

This is part of a planned and phased transition that was originally announced on 19 October 2016. The vessel has a cargo carrying capacity of 266 366 m3, and is wholly owned by Nakilat. It is chartered by RasGas and was constructed in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries.

The vessel has been in service ever since its delivery in October 2009. It is the fifth Q-Max LNG vessel that will come under Nakilat Shipping Qatar Ltd’s (NSQL’s) management, and will bring the total number of vessels under the company’s management to 13. This consists of nine LNG carriers and four LPG carriers.
