Exelon Generation has announced an agreement to purchase the Everett Marine/Distrigas LNG import terminal from ENGIE North America.
The purchase aims to ensure a continued reliable supply of fuel to units 8 and 9 of the Exelon owned Mystic Generating station while they remain operating – Exelon has filed with the ISO New England Inc. to retire Mystic Generating Station’s Units 7, 8, 9, and the Jet unit on 1 June 2022.
Transaction closure is dependent upon regulatory review by the US Department of Energy for LNG import authorisation and, as necessary, authorisation from the US Department of Justice. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2018.
