Amec Foster Wheeler has released a statement claiming that Rod Carr has been appointed Chief Information Officer – a newly created position. Carr will be a member of the Group Leadership Team and will report to the CEO. He will be based in London, UK.

Carr previously served as the IT Director at AEP Energy Services between 2002 and 2003. He performed the same role at Scotia Gas Networks plc, before eventually joining Centrica in 2010, where he has served as Group Chief Information Officer ever since.

At Centrica, he helped to lead a change in the operating style for information services from customer programmes, to the integration of disparate international business.

In addition to this, Carr also previously served as a Managing Consultant with PA Consulting, where he worked in both utilities and energy sectors. He also served as a Consulting Director with Arthur Anderson, where – amongst other things – he provided policy advice to OPEC on the transition of the chairmanship. In his early working career, Carr worked with Eastern Electricity plc and ABB’s Energy Information Services Division.

The CEO of Amec Foster Wheeler, Jonathan Lewis, said: “Rod has an exceptionally wide understanding of both the technology and energy sectors and his expertise will be instrumental in driving the execution of our information technology strategy. I am delighted to welcome him to the business.”
