Sakhalin strategic partnership

Sakhalin Energy has recently signed a strategic partnership agreement with Sakhalin State University, covering cooperation in education and scientific activities including training and re-training of oil and gas specialists and the arrangement of internships for students. Other activities as part of the partnership include the involvement of university employees for consulting, review and work in the state qualification, certification and examination committees, as well as arrangement and preparation of training courses.

The agreement is focused on joint scientific-research activities, arrangement and conduct of scientific conferences, and the publication and application of education materials developed by teachers of the university and Sakhalin Energy specialists in the education process.

Over 300 Sakhalin Energy employees are graduates of the Sakhalin State University or its divisions. Over 10 years,s tudents of the Sakhalin State University have the opportunity to undertake an internship/pre-graduation internship with Sakhalin Energy.

The key participants of the internship training programme are graduates from the Polytechnic College. Upon completion of the programme, such graduates are offered employment at the LNG plant, onshore processing facility (OPF) or offshore platforms.

Igor Minervin, Principal of the Sakhalin State University, said: "There is no university that [is] able to achieve goals without support. Involvement of those who employ graduates, including organisations and investors is necessary. Stable relations between Sakhalin Energy and the Sakhalin State University [have] exist[ed] for a long time. Conclusion of the strategic partnership agreement is a new milestone in maintaining of a mutual trust and cooperation between two organisations".
