LNG Industry,

GE has announced that RasGas will be the first to globally deploy GE’s Assest Performance Management (APM) solutions for the LNG industry. APM is powered by Predix, and will serve as a pilot.

RasGas will become the first international customer to use GE’s Predix Cloud, which is the only cloud-based solution specifically engineered for industrial analytics and data in the world. It will extend the life of various RasGas assets, and, through greater efficiencies and product chain optimisation, will lower operation costs.

Currently, in the LNG industry, raw data is isolated and stored in different locations. With this new solution, information spanning several years can be integrated to improve both predictive and corrective capabilities.

The Chief Operations Officer, RasGas – Fahad Mohammed Al Khater – said: “At RasGas, we are continuously exploring opportunities to enhance our operational efficiency by leveraging the latest in technology innovation. The efficient utilisation of big data enables us to monitor our resources effectively and identify challenges even before their onset to drive growth.”

The Chief Digital Officer, GE – Bill Ruh – added: “Powered by Predix, our APM solutions help unlock the potential for productivity gains by our customers through highly efficient production cycles. The introduction of our first APM solution for the LNG sector with RasGas, a global pioneer in the LNG industry, demonstrates the organisation’s keen commitment to be a leader in adopting next generation technologies today. Beyond the technology gains, the solution will also enhance the entire value chain - promoting innovation and growth.”
