According to Reuters, the European Union (EU) is set to increase its US LNG imports to 8 billion m3 by 2023. This represents a significant increase, more than double the import quantity recorded in 2018.
According to a statement from the EU Commission (EC), US LNG imports have been quickly increasing since the chief of the EC, Jean-Claude Juncker, met with President Donald Trump in July 2018; to the extent that more than 14 billion m3 of LNG was imported in March alone.
According to the Commission, “the European Union is ready to facilitate more imports of liquefied natural gas from the US, if the market conditions are right and prices competitive.”
