Pavilion Energy seeks development of LNG emissions standard

LNG Industry,

According to Reuters, Pavilion Energy is requesting that LNG suppliers contribute towards the development of an industry standard to measure LNG’s total GHG emissions.

As well as calling for the industry standard, Pavilion has also encouraged exporters to make known their carbon mitigation schemes. The company’s rationale for this is its aim to make all of its purchases carbon neutral.

LNG is typically considered to be a cleaner fuel than traditional coal or oil, however there is no accepted industry standard for measuring the GHG emissions produced during its production or transportation.

One of two approved LNG importing companies in Singapore, Pavilion is looking to secure new gas deliveries of up to 2 million tpy for at least five years from 2023 onwards.
