Philly Shipyard delivers dual-fuel containership

The Daniel K. Inouye is the largest containership ever constructed in the US. It is 850 ft long, can operate at speeds of over 23 knots, and features dual-fuel engines that can be adapted to use LNG.
Steinar Nerbovik, Philly Shipyard’s President and CEO, said: “It is an honour to deliver this vessel today to our returning customer Matson, and leave our mark on the industry with the largest containership built in the US.
“We are grateful for Matson’s confidence in our talented men and women who brought the vessel to life, and are proud to satisfy the needs of our customer with another quality vessel.”
In the statement, Philly Shipyard claims that it is still building the second 3600 TEU Aloha Class containership for Matson, which is scheduled for delivery in 1Q19.
