Venture Global LNG expands leadership team
Venture Global LNG, Inc. has announced that Tom Newton, formerly a VP of AES Corp., has joined the company as VP of Engineering.
Newton will be responsible for the engineering and operations of the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant that will generate electricity to power Venture Global’s 10 million tpy facility in southwestern Louisiana.
Commenting on the appointment, William M. Wicker, CEO, said: “Hiring Tom Newton is another step in Venture Global LNG’s continuing focus on building a world-class team. Tom has invaluable engineering experience and is a critical addition to ensure Venture Global will export LNG with lower capital costs and increased operating flexibility and efficiency.”
Newton brings more than 30 years of experience in the engineering, construction and operations of power plants. At AES Corp., he was responsible for worldwide performance improvement of 123 electric generating plants. Prior to AES, Newton worked for Southern Company and its affiliates as Plant Manager and Director of European Operations.
Throughout his career, Newton has been responsible for optimising plant operational and commercial performance for a power portfolio in excess of 90 000 MW.
