Venture Global acquires land for liquefaction project

LNG Industry,

Venture Global LNG’s subsidiary, Venture Global Calcasieu Pass, LLC, has entered into an agreement for an additional 63-acre parcel of land, adjacent to its existing Calcasieu Pass project site.

The project, which is a liquefaction and export facility located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, filed with the US Department of Energy (DOE) for free trade agreement (FTA) and non-FTA export authorisation in 2013. The company began the pre-filing approval process with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in 2014.

Commenting on the milestone, William M. Wicker, CEO of Venture Global LNG, said: “Expanding our land footprint is an important step forward for the Calcasieu Pass Project. Additional land will enable us to be more flexible in terms of design and project expansion.”

In December 2014, Venture Global Calcasieu Pass entered into a binding letter agreement providing the subsidiary with the exclusive right to negotiate a lease option agreement for an additional 63-acre parcel of land adjacent to the northern border of the current 203.6-acre project site. With the 63 acres included, the project has approximately one mile of frontage on the Calcasieu Ship Channel.

The project, at peak construction, will employ approximately 1500 workers and is expected to create approximately 100 long-term, direct jobs. It is projected to be operational in late 2019.
