The Ledcor Group of Companies has announced that LNG Canada has selected the Ledcor-Haisla Ltd Partnership (LHLP) for site preparation work at the proposed gas liquefaction and export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada. LHLP was established in June 2011 with the aim of jointly pursuing opportunities in the B.C. LNG industry.

Quentin Huillery, the Senior Vice President of Ledcor Constructors, said: “We value our strong partnership with the Haisla Nation, formed on respect, trust, and a willingness to work together for mutual success.”

Representatives from LNG Canada, Ledcor and the Haisla Nation discussed how this contract would help to bring long-term benefits to the Haisla and local community by providing business opportunities, employment and training.

Haisla Chief Councilor Ellis Ross said: “As LNG opportunities present themselves to the Haisla, we wanted to ensure benefits for our people beyond a few payments here and there.

"Joint ventures such as this one with Ledcor provide our people with training opportunities and employment, and an ability to partner with and learn from leading Canadian companies."

LHLP was also awarded the Little Creek contract in December 2015 by LNG Canada. This includes mobilisation to site and the initial site water management, as well as access road construction and snow clearing. In addition to this, the site preparation contract, which LHLP won on 25 February 2016, includes grubbing and excavation, as well as grading of the workforce accommodation centre.
