Petronas LNG Train 9 commences operations

JX Nippon Oil & Energy (JX NOE) has announced that the ninth train of the Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia, has officially commenced operations.

In June 2016, JX NOE bought a 10% stake in Petronas LNG 9 Sdn Bhd (PL9SB), which owns the train. JX NOE already had an existing 10% equity interest in MLNG Tiga Sdn Bhd.

The train has a capacity of 3.6 million tpy. Combined, the Petronas LNG complex has an overall capacity of 30 million tpy.

JX NOE claims that its strategic partnership with Petronas will strive towards expanding the LNG business and ensuring a reliable supply of energy.
