Navigant Consulting Inc. has announced that Steelhead LNG Corp. has received approval to export LNG from the Canadian National Energy Board (NEB). Subject to approval from the Governor in Council, Steelhead will now be able to gain a 25-year license to export LNG, although its maximum annual export volume will be limited at 356.5 billion ft3. This follows a report prepared by Navigant (Supply-Demand and Export Impact Assessment), which demonstrated that the gas that Steelhead wanted to export was surplus to Canadian needs.
Gordon Pickering, the Director at Navigant, said: “Navigant is pleased with the NEB’s decision in support of Steelhead’s application.
“We believe it signifies great promise for the gas and LNG industry in Canada and for consumers in other locations around the world through Steelhead’s exports. We acknowledge the NEB’s diligence in assessing the Canadian and North American supply and demand market and, in the end, to agree with our key findings in support of Steelhead’s application.”
The Managing Director of Navigant, Lee Laviolette, said: “Navigant successfully continues to support its clients with a broad set of consulting services for oil and gas companies that are evaluating investments in natural gas and exporting globally. Our deep industry expertise and our unique strategy and modelling capabilities are key assets that support our high quality consulting in this area.”
