Origin Energy Ltd has announced that David Baldwin, the company’s Integrated Gas CEO, has decided to step down from his position at the end of April 2017.

The company also claims that Mark Schubert – the current General Manager, Commercial – has been appointed Executive General Manager, Integrated Gas, effective 1 May 2017. Baldwin will remain with the company for a period of time to act as an advisor to the CEO to help with key projects.

Frank Calabria, Origin CEO, said: “David has had a distinguished career at Origin over the past 11 years. As CEO of our Integrated Gas business, his outstanding achievement was executing the Australia Pacific LNG project.

“Prior to his current role, David was CEO of our LNG business and successfully merged it with our conventional gas assets to form Integrated Gas. Before that, David was CEO and Managing Director of Contact Energy in New Zealand, where he led Contact’s strategic shift from thermal generation growth to renewables.

“With Australia Pacific LNG on track to complete its final milestones – and Origin’s decision to sell its conventional upstream business – David has decided that it is the right time for him to step down.

“David has made a lasting impression at Origin, and we are grateful for his huge contribution. We wish David and his family the very best.”

Discussing Schubert’s appointment, Calabria added: “We are pleased to appoint Mark to lead Integrated Gas as it continues to transition from a project to operations with a focus on productivity and reducing unit costs.

“Mark joined Origin in May 2015 as General Manager, Commercial and Strategy for Integrated Gas following an 18-year career with Shell. He has more than 10 years’ senior management experience in oil and gas operations spanning green field and brown field, commercial, supply, logistics and major facility asset management. I am pleased Mark is joining my leadership team and I look forward to working alongside him in that role.”
