The Governor of Alaska, Bill Walker, has announced that he will attend the CWC 8th World LNG and Gas Series – Asia Pacific Summit in Singapore in September 2016. While abroad, Walker will also take part in the Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Government Key Personnel Invitation Program. This program invites particular US Governors to Korea for one-on-one meetings with both private sector companies and government officials in order to advance issues that are important to that state.

Walker said: “As Alaska takes the lead in developing its North Slope natural gas, it is absolutely critical that we go to the global market and meet with prospective buyers.

“The Alaska LNG project would bring billions of dollars in new revenue to our state, provide affordable energy to Alaskans, and ensure a long-term supply of natural gas to Asian buyers. I am looking forward to the significant networking opportunities this trip will bring, and the chance to promote Alaska’s rich supply of natural gas to the world market.”

While abroad, Walker will meet the US Ambassador to Korea, as well as representatives from a number of companies, including Kogas, Posco and GS Energy. He will also meet representatives from the Korea Energy Economics Institute and the Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In these meetings, Walker will promote the sale of Alaska’s North Slope natural gas.

At the event in Singapore, Walker will give a keynote address on 21 September 2016, highlighting the plentiful supply of natural gas in Alaska. He will be joined the President of the Alaska Gasline Development Corp., Keith Meyer; the Chief Oil and Gas Advisor, John Hendrix; and the Department of Natural Resources Commissioner, Andy Mack.

Meyer noted: “It is important that the state and AGDC participate in strategic LNG conferences to market and promote Alaska’s integrated gasline and LNG project.

“There are many global LNG projects vying for buyers’ attention. The competition is intense; Alaska needs to actively promote its benefits to secure its share of the global LNG market.”
