LNG Industry,

AMPO POYAM VALVES has been awarded a contract to supply highly engineered cryogenic ball valves for the Ruwais LNG project, one of the most significant lower-carbon LNG developments currently under construction in the Middle East.

Ruwais LNG is located in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, and is being developed by ADNOC. The EPC contract was awarded to Technip Energies, leading a joint venture (TJN RUWAIS JV) together with JGC and NMDC Energy. The plant will comprise two natural gas liquefaction trains with a combined LNG production capacity of 9.6 million tpy. Unlike conventional facilities, Ruwais LNG will run on electric-driven motors rather than gas turbines, powered by clean energy, making it the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and North Africa region to operate on clean power and one of the lowest carbon-intensity LNG plants in the world. The project will more than double ADNOC’s LNG production capacity, aligning with growing global gas demand and the industry’s shift towards decarbonisation.

AMPO POYAM VALVES’ scope covers cryogenic ball valves from 3 in. – 24 in., to be installed across the onshore LNG liquefaction facilities of the two electrically driven trains. The order currently in production comprises more than 600 cryogenic ball valves.
