Pieridae Energy (Canada) Ltd has announced that it has received non-free trade export authorisation from the US Department of Energy (DOE). This joins the free trade authorisation granted by the DOE in 2015, and allows Pieridae to export LNG to countries that do not have a free trade agreement with the US. Pieridae also has authorisation from the National Energy Board of Canada to import gas to Canada and export it as LNG. Combined, Pieridae’s proposed Goldboro LNG project will be able to serve all global LNG markets.

In addition to this, Pieridae will be better positioned to manage gas supply feedstock for LNG delivered to both Western and Southern Europe, where Uniper Global Commodities S.E. – Pieridae’s main customer – bases its operations.

Alfred Sorensen, the President and CEO of Pieridae, said: “We appreciate the support we received from the federal ministers of both Global Affairs Canada and Atlantic Canada in advocating for Canadian business as Pieridae proceeded through the US regulatory permitting process.

“This support, along with the continued support of the Nova Scotia Minister of Energy and the Minister of Natural Resources, will help the province take a leadership position in this industry.”
