According to the latest Reuters report, Bahrain’s first LNG regasification terminal is scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2019.
The announcement regarding the terminal was made by Teekay LNG Partners, a 30% shareholder in the project, in its quarterly financial results.
This startup date is later than previously expected. Indeed, the project has been delayed at least twice, and the last scheduled operation commencement date was reported to be in 3Q19.
The Bahrain terminal is comprised of: a floating storage unit (FSU), the ‘Bahrain Spirit’; an offshore LNG receiving jetty and breakwater; a regasification platform; subsea gas pipelines from the platform to shore; an onshore gas receiving facility; and an onshore nitrogen production facility.
