Excelerate drops Lavaca Bay LNG project

Excelerate Liquefaction Solutions LLC has filed a letter to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) informing that it is withdrawing its application to site, construct and operate a floating LNG (FLNG) terminal in Lavaca Bay, Texas, US, as well as the interconnecting pipeline.

Following an internal evaluation of the economic value of the LNG project, Excelerate has requested that FERC permits the application withdrawal and that it terminates the related proceedings.

In a separate letter, Excelerate intends to inform the US Department of Energy (DOE) of its withdrawal of the application to export up to 10 million tpy of LNG for a 20-year term to countries that do not have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the US.
