Gazprom to construct small scale LNG plant on Sakhalin island.

According to Reuters, Gazprom is planning to construct a small scale LNG plant on Sakhalin island to supply the disputed Kuril Islands.

According to a statement released by the Sakhalin government, the facility would have a capacity of 100 000 tpy of LNG. This would then be shipped to islands, where it would be used to produce electricity.

Reuters reports that no time frame has been given for this project.
