Iveco has announced that it will supply 10 New Stralis Natural Power (NP) vehicles, fuelled by LNG, to i-FAST Automotive Logistics.
This order will mark the first European delivery of vehicles for LNG-powered car transport.
The New Stralis NP is the first natural gas vehicle designed for long-haul missions. It features dual LNG tanks, each with a capacity of 540 litres, for a range of up to 1500 km.
The LNG-fuelled vehicles will be able to freely access urban areas where increasingly stringent noise and pollution restrictions are being introduced.
Following trials, i-FAST Automotive Logistics opted to become the first car transporter fleet to offer this type of sustainable, low environmental impact transport. This decision was also based on expected short-term developments in the Italian LNG fuel distribution network. Italy currently has six LNG stations, but a further four new LNG sites are planned for later this year.
