LNG-powered ConRo vessel launched

Following the recent news that Crowley Maritime Corp. and VT Halter Marine have launched a new Commitment Class vessel, Crowley has released a video of the event.

The vessel, El Coquí, is one of the first ConRo ships to be powered by LNG in Pasacagoula, Mississippi, US. Its launch is just one of a series of milestones expected to be achieved this week as part of the company’s US$550 million project to expand and modernise its shipping and logistics services between Jacksonville, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

New Zealand moving closer to LNG import terminal

New Zealand’s Energy Minister, Simon Watts, has said the government will contract to build an LNG import facility to strengthen New Zealand’s energy security and support economic growth.
