UPS and Omya nominated for LNG award
UGI Energy Services, a UGI Corporation subsidiary, has announced that two of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) customers have been nominated for the Black Diamond Award at the World LNG Conference in Houston.
Atlanta-based UPS Fuel Services is being recognised for the rollout of its LNG-fuelled highway fleet throughout the US. Vermont-based Omya Inc. is being recognised for adoption of an LNG-based processing system associated with its quarry operation in Florence, Vermont. Both companies have been identified as having advanced LNG-related technologies and supporting the development and expansion of these emerging LNG markets.

Brad Hall, president of UGI Energy Services, commented: “UGI Energy Services is pleased to work with these two top-tier corporations that recently launched programs to take advantage of the economic and environmental benefits offered by LNG. Clean-burning LNG is a highly economical alternative for oil-burning industrial facilities that do not have access to piped natural gas, and for truck fleets that use large quantities of diesel fuel. The continued expansion of UGI LNG, Inc.’s facility in eastern Pennsylvania, coupled with its proximity to thriving industrial and transportation hubs, provides UGI Energy Services with a unique opportunity to be a leading supplier of LNG in the region.”
Matthew Dutzman, VP of Business Development at UGI Energy Services, added: “In addition to supply arrangements with UPS and Omya, UGI Energy Services supplies LNG to other industrial facilities, truck fleets, and drilling rig operators in the Northeast. UGIES provides firm, long-term LNG supply, as well as other services including assistance with natural gas price hedging, LNG transportation alternatives, and on-site customer LNG equipment. UGIES offers a full range of capabilities to help our customers make the transition from oil or diesel to LNG as seamless as possible so they can enjoy the cost savings and emissions reduction benefit of increasingly abundant natural gas”.
