LNG America has signed a joint marketing agreement with Scandrill to provide a solution for LNG-fuelled drilling operations in the Gulf Coast region.

Scandrill’s rig fleet includes eight bi-fuelled units. Its two newest units incorporate advanced technologies for reliably optimising LNG/diesel substitution rates upwards of 60%.

The relationship between LNG America and Scandrill will provide operators with the opportunity to drill their prospects with drilling equipment fuelled by LNG.

Under the agreement LNG America and Scandrill will seek out operators that are situated to take advantage of Scandrill’s equipment and LNG America’s expertise in the application of LNG as a fuel in the high horsepower engine market.

Paul Mosvold, President and CEO of Scandrill, said: “We are very pleased to be working with LNG America to provide natural gas for our drilling rigs […] In today’s pricing environment it is very important that we continue to find ways to lower costs for operators while maintaining the highest efficiency and also improving environmental emissions. Scandrill partnered with Caterpillar to field test one of the first innovative prototype Caterpillar, DGB (Dual Gas Blending) systems which has given us unique knowledge.”
