Qatargas calls for greater use of LNG in transportation
Qatargas’ CEO, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, concluded that natural gas in the solution to maintaining stable and secure energy supplies “when the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining”.
Addressing World Gas Conference delegates and attendees, Al Thani cited the role of natural gas in the development of a sustainable energy system. The abundant fuel can adequately support greater use of renewable technologies, he added.
Highlighting the attraction of LNG as an alternative fuel, Al Thani referenced Qatar’s leading role as a developer of LNG. Calling for its greater use as a transportation fuel, he noted that LNG could help meet energy demand from a growing population, which is predicted to reach 8 billion in the next few years.
