Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has released a statement claiming that it has been awarded a five-year LNG deal by the City of Santa Monica, California, US, to fuel its Big Blue Bus (BBB) vehicles.
The contract, which is worth approximately US$3 million/yr, will see BBB continue using Clean Energy’s RedeemTM – the company’s brand of renewable natural gas (RNG). The vehicles have used the fuel since January 2015.
BBB includes 200 natural gas buses and is planning to replace over 100 of its current bus engines with new, Cummins-Westport 8.9L ISL G Near-Zero 0.02 NOx natural gas engines over the coming three years.
