LNG Industry,
Following recent discussions regarding an LNG import deal between the Lithuanian fertiliser producer, Achema, and Statoil, Reuters reports that a deal has been signed. This contract will replace Achema’s recently expired contract with Gazprom. Achema is the largest user of natural gas in Baltics and, in 2014, consumed 1.3 billion m3 of gas. By signing this deal, it will reduce its energy dependence on Russia.
Reuters also reports that the Lithuanian Prime minister, Algirdas Butkevicius, confirmed that the first deliveries of LNG will begin at the end of 2Q16 and will continue into the summer.
