Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) has announced that it has awarded both Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd and Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd a licence to import the next tranche of LNG into Singapore.
The announcement was made by Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry), during the opening of Singapore International Energy Week 2016.
The two companies were selected via a two-stage Request for Proposal (RFP) process to appoint up to two LNG importers to supply Singapore with LNG.
The EMA said that Pavilion Gas and Shell offered reliable, flexible and competitively-priced LNG supplies to Singapore, and demonstrated a strong ability to cater to different market needs. The two companies also secured the most demand from different buyers during Stage Two of the RFP.
Pavilion Gas and Shell will each have exclusivity to market up to 1 million tpy of LNG or for 3 years, whichever is earlier. The next tranche of imports is expected to commence from next year. Interested gas buyers may approach the appointed importers on their gas supply terms.
