The European Commission has held a conference in order to discuss the European Union’s (EU) new strategy towards gas and LNG storage. This new strategy will be finalised in 2016, and is part of the EU’s overall plans for Energy Union. At the same time, a public consultation on energy storage and LNG is currently underway, and will finish on 30 September 2015.
Several topics were discussed, including: how to take greater advantage of existing LNG infrastructure; whether or not there were any commercial, regulatory or legal blockades; and various international aspects, such as energy diplomacy.
