EGAS denies LNG cargo payment difficulties

According to Reuters, EGAS – the Egyptian state-owned energy company – has rejected suggestions that a recent delivery from BP has been diverted due to payment difficulties. The British Sapphire LNG tanker was due to deliver an LNG cargo to Egypt, but has instead been diverted to Brazil.

Khaled Abdel Badie, the Chairman of EGAS, said: “This is completely untrue”, reportedly adding that the deliveries have merely been postponed until August 2016.

Reuters also claims that Egypt is looking to rent a third floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in 1Q16.
