Adriatic LNG has announced that it has successfully completed the tender procedure for peak shaving services, which is one of the measures of the Ministry of Economic Development’s ‘Emergency Plan’ to ensure security of supply to the national gas system during the 2016 to 2017 winter season.

The LNG market operator who won the service will provide 70 000 m3 of LNG to Snam Rete Gas, whose discharge in the Adriatic LNG terminal’s tanks will take place in the second half of December 2016.

In the case of an emergency, the LNG in the tanks will be regasified and delivered into the national grid. The service will be available to Snam Rete Gas until 31 March 2017.

Corrado Papa, Commercial Manager of Adriatic LNG, said: “This year too, many customers have shown interest in the peak shaving service despite some of them have been discouraged in the final phase due to market developments such as the spread that has again widened in favour of Asian markets and the high volatility of LNG price as a result of elections in the United States.”
