According to Reuters, the CFO of PGNiG, Boguslaw Marzec, has said that the Polish gas firm may stop gas purchases from Gazprom in the future, due to diversification of supply.

Marzec reportedly said: “It may happen that we will be not buying gas at all (from Gazprom), we're in a diversification programme. Within four years, we will have three main supply directions – from the East, from the LNG terminal, and from Norway.”

Reuters added that, earlier in 2016, a Polish government official claimed that the country is not planning to renew its long-term gas supply contract with Russia following the expiration of its current deal with Gazprom in 2022.
