Lithuania’s Minister of Energy, Rokas Masiulis, met with the Estonian Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Kristen Michal, on 7 August 2015. During the meeting, the ministers visited the Klaipeda LNG terminal and discussed energy projects in both countries.
Mr Masiulis said: “It is clear that the LNG terminal can contribute to the security of gas supply in the whole Baltic region, so it was a valuable experience to learn more about its activities in Lithuania”.
The ministers discussed the prospects of regional gas market development and progress in the implementation of the Lithuanian-Polish gas pipeline (GIPL) project. Mr Masiulis added: “Close cooperation between Lithuania and Estonia is crucial in order to ensure that the Baltic States could establish a fully functioning common gas market as soon as possible”.
