Ashurst has announced that it acted as external legal counsel to Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pavilion Energy, in relation to its successful bid for a licence to import LNG, and sell regasified LNG, into Singapore.

At the end of October 2016, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore appointed Pavilion Gas to import and supply the next tranche of LNG for Singapore. This marked the culmination of the Request for Proposal (RfP) process first launched by the EMA on 30 June 2014.

Pavilion Gas will have the right to market regasified LNG to Singapore-based customers until the date it has contracted an aggregate of 1 million tpy of LNG under various gas sales agreements (which provide for gas deliveries commencing within 5 years of the LNG import license award) or for up to 3 years, whichever is earlier.

The EMA RfP award represents a significant milestone for Pavilion Gas. The company’s LNG supply portfolio is complemented by its existing piped natural gas imports from South Sumatra, Indonesia. This enables Pavilion Gas to optimise its natural gas portfolio and provide competitive offerings to its customers in Singapore.
