Uniper wins peak shaving tender

Uniper has announced that it has won a tender for the peak shaving service organised by Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development and conducted by OLT Offshore LNG Toscana.
Uniper Global Commodities, the company’s trading subsidiary, will deliver 105 000 m3 of LNG to the FSRU Toscana terminal off the coast of Livorno, Italy, where it will be stored until needed. The LNG was due to arrive Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, US.
By winning the tender, Uniper is obligated to respond to peak-demand situations between January and March 2017 by withdrawing the necessary amount of gas from the terminal and delivering it to SNAM Rete Gas, Italy’s gas transmission system operator. The price was agreed on in the tender.
OLT’s tender, which was held on 28 October 2016, was open to all LNG suppliers. The winner was announced on 22 November 2016. It was the fourth time this year that Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development has organised a tender for peak shaving service.
