KLAW LNG launching white paper on LNG transfers

Published by , Editor
LNG Industry,

KLAW LNG is in the process of launching a white paper examining the variables in managing a SIL2 complaint LNG safety critical flexible hose transfer system.

The paper considers the technology available in maintaining SIL2 compliance over the life cycle of the LNG transfer system. In particular SILSIS (Safety Integrated Level Safety Instrumented System) is considered in detail and how this system is currently performing in commercial operation.

SILSIS is the world’s first SIL2 compliant system for monitoring LNG flexible hose transfer and managing ESD1 and ESD2 situations for ship-to-ship and shore-to-ship bulk transfer and bunkering applications. Its multi-level components, architecture and automated procedures have been designed to ensure SIL2 performance rating and availability is maintained.

Unlike other systems, SILSIS is a fully-automated Programme Logic Controlled (PLC) system that removes many human elements from the transfer process to maximise availability, minimise risk and enable complete control of operations.

KLAW LNG staff will be available at Gastech to discuss the paper in detail.
