Cryostar has release its new LNG Dispenser 2.0, which is designed for LNG refuelling stations, for fleet operators and for lorry drivers using LNG as a fuel for their trucks. The dispenser adopts a simple design, yet combines reliable, automated, safe and user-friendly designed equipment. Thus, the new design of the LNG Dispenser 2.0 offers to reduce gas losses drastically whilst also allowing for a more convenient use of the LNG dispenser.

The LNG Dispenser includes Cryostar’s latest innovations. Firstly, a coriolis flowmeter and electronic calculator validated for weights and measures approval, according to MID directive, has been added. The legal threshold of 1.5% is exceeded on the Coriolis mass flow meter for LNG.

Secondly, it utilises an independent Cryostar Cryofueltronic electronic card, designed to manage the entire automatic refuelling process, controlling valves and instrumentation for tank venting, flow meter cooling down and vehicle refuelling. The electronic card ensures a safe refuelling process for use in ATEX zone 1 and is fully suitable to be weights and measures approved following the MID directive.

Thirdly, an optional vent back Coriolis flow measurement device in the vent line calculates the volume of gas transferred precisely and quantifies exactly the mass filled, as well as that ‘recovered’ from the truck. Until now, the volume of gas ‘vented’ was not accounted for.

Finally, enhanced communication with station supervision system is achieved using Modbus for communication with PLC and IFSF protocol for communication with payment system. In addition, a simple communication mode through a single contact for pump start and stop is available.

The dispenser has an improved design, making it user friendly and it is dedicated to LNG refuelling. The position of the dispenser screen allows operators to stay behind the dispenser during refuelling without being blocked in-between flexible hoses.

Cryostar has an enhanced the hose layout by making it more flexible, thus ensuring a longer lifetime. Hoses now hang from the top of the dispenser. In addition, a specific support has been installed to ensure a good bending radius when the nozzle is replaced onto its receptacle.

In order to make the dispenser more user friendly, only one ‘dead-man’ button has to be pushed in order to start the refuelling sequence. There are no other buttons except the emergency stop button since the dispenser automatically detects flexible hose disconnection. Moreover, the graphical interface of the screen looks like any standard fuel display with three lines for the total weight, total price and price per kg. An additional instruction line shows useful information to the operator and describes each refuelling step. A fifth line allows for either specific messages or other information.

Cryostar has worked to ensure: the absence of sparks when connecting and disconnecting the connector to the lorry, the proper functioning of the air pistol when cleaning the connector to remove all traces of ice, correct positioning of the flexible hoses, the buttons and the clamp, increased service life of the hoses via adaptation of their configuration, and that the emergency stop button is directly connected to the station control panel to allow for a complete shutdown of the station.
