Nigeria LNG delivers 3000th cargo

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) delivered is 3000^th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, at Marmara LNG terminal in Turkey.

On Sunday 19^th January, the event was marked with a ceremony on board the NLNG Lokoja, at the Marmara LNG terminal, attended by senior company officials including CEO, Babs Omotow, deputy managing director, Basheer Koko, and commercial director, Patrick Olinma. Other attendees included a representative of the Nigerian Ambassador, Folusho Adeshida and Botas Petroleum CEO, Mehmet Konuk.

Harness gas resources
Company CEO, Omotowa, commented: “Today, we deliver our 3000^th cargo of LNG to Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation. LNG Lokoja, one of the 23 vessels in NLNG’s fleet, with a capacity of 148 471 m³, sailed from Bonny Island Terminal in Rivers State on 7^th January this year, carrying 47 778 900 million British thermal units (MMBtu) of LNG.

NLNG’s first cargo to Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation was delivered on board LNG Lagos at Marmara in November 1999. The company currently supplies almost 25% of Turkey’s LNG imports.

Between 1999 and 2013, NLNG has converted over 4 trillion ft³ of associated gas to LNG and NGL (natural gas liquids) for both export and domestic uses. Through this, the company has positively impacted on the country’s gas flaring status, helping to improve the environment whilst converting a previously wasted resource into a valuable commodity for Nigeria.

Plans to boost LNG production
Nigeria LNG plans to construct an additional seventh LNG train to complement the existing six train structure. When in operation, this train will boost the company’s total production capacity to 30 million tpa of LNG and potentially increase Nigeria’s supply of world LNG demand to 10%, bringing increased value to government, shareholders, communities and local businesses.

NLNG is jointly owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (49%), Shell Gas, (25.6%), Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15%), and Eni International (10.4%).
