DOE approves two FTA exports

LNG Industry,

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has approved two LNG export applications for the supply of LNG to free trade agreement (FTA) countries located in the Caribbean and Central America.

The DOE granted export permits to Advanced Energy Solutions (AES) and Argent Marine Management (Argent).

AES plans to export up to 8 billion ft3/year of domestically produced LNG to Honduras over a period of 25 years. LNG transportation will be via sea in International Shipping Organization (ISO) containers with 12 000 g capacities.

AES will purchase LNG from BP’s Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved storage facility Florida Natural Gas Storage, Florida. LNG will be transported via truck or locomotive to the Port of Palm Beach and then shipped to Honduras.

Argent will export up to 1 billion ft3/year of LNG to an unconfirmed end-user in the Caribbean for the same period of 25 years. This will also be transported in ISO containers. LNG will be obtained from the Pivitol LNG production plant in Trussville, Alabama and transported by truck to one or more ports in the Southeast of the US for export.
