Donggi-Senoro plant production delayed

LNG Industry,

The 2 million tpa Donggi-Senoro liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Banggai, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, has been delayed, a spokesman from shareholder Mitsubishi Corporation revealed on Friday. Production was due to get underway in late 2014. However, March 2015 has been projected as the earliest possible date for this to happen.

Mitsubishi hold a 44.9% majority stake in the Donggi-Senoro project, which was constructed by PT Donggi Senoro Liquefied Natural Gas. Other owners include PT Medco Energi Internasional (11.1%), Pertamin (29%) and Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) (15%).

According to local media sources, Donggi Senoro LNG president director Gusrizal said that construction of the 2.1 million tpa capacity project, which began in 2011, was 85% complete. Gusrizal also revealed that investment in the project was around US$ 2.08 billion.

Donggi Senoro LNG, which will source gas from the Senoro and Matindok gas feeds, has signed contracts to export 1 million tpa of LNG to Japanese company Chubu Electric, 0.7 million tpa to Kogas and 0.3 million tpa to Japan’s Kyushu Electric Power.

Once operational, the Donggi-Senoro plant will be the fourth LNG plant in Indonesia. Currently operating LNG plants, each with a production capacity of 4.3 million tpa are in Arun, Bontang, and Tangguh.
