AET’s ‘Eagle Blane’ completes maiden LNG bunkering at the Port of Rotterdam

The ship-to-ship bunkering was arranged by the Shell LNG Trading team and lasted nearly 15 hours including cooling down during which approximately 1480 m³ of LNG was pumped into Eagle Blane. The bunkering filled up 87% of Eagle Blane’s total LNG tank capacity, enabling it to sail for approximately 3500 nautical miles.

Three other members of the AET fleet: VLCC Bunga Kasturi Lima, Aframax Eagle Kinabalu and Product Tanker Bunga Laurel were also present during the bunkering, moored around the same locality of Eagle Blane’s berth.

Both Eagle Blane and her twin sister, Eagle Balder are expected to surpass our expectations as the latest most eco-innovative vessels emitting the least CO₂ per tonne mile of cargo carried in the world.”

Eagle Blane is AET’s most eco-innovative vessel to date, emitting 40 – 48% less carbon than equivalent vessels built in 2008. It is a prime example of eco-innovative solutions and commercial viability co-existing harmoniously in the new decade.

After leaving the Port of Rotterdam, Eagle Blane sailed to Åmøyfjorden in Stavanger. The Norwegian-flagged vessel will be operating in oilfields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf of the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and the southern Barents Sea, as well as on the UK Continental Shelf.
