According to a Reuters source, Japan’s Inpex Corporation expects to ship the first LNG cargo from its Ichthys LNG project in Australia by the end of September.
The official word from Inpex remains that the company cannot give a schedule for the first cargo at this time.
The Ichthys project has been hindered by multiple delays and has accrued overrun costs worth billions of dollars due to technical difficulties. It is now two years behind schedule as it was originally slated to start in 2016.
